Are you wondering why you are being punished when you copy somebody’s work for your website content or school college essays and dissertation? The university has every right to give you a failing grade or even expel you when you are caught submitting plagiarized homework. What is plagiarism? Plagiarism (read as PLAY-JUH-RIH-ZEM) comes from the Latin word plagiarius which means “kidnapping”. It is when you use someone else’s word or idea and pass them off as your own.

Most people commit the plagiarism act unintentionally. Web content writers copying the articles from other websites for posting on their own projects are being punished by Google and other search engines listing their websites under blacklist and at the same time stripping off the site’s PR ranking. Most students performing research in the internet failed to analyze and synthesize the resource materials that they just copied and pasted the text without the proper citation. Although we could say that some are lazy to synthesize and write what they understand from the resource materials on their own words, they should at least make the proper citation to give proper credit and recognition to the efforts of the original author. So, they just copied and pasted it on their papers without caring to cite the source. This is an act of plagiarism. Although it was not intentional, they committed the absolute act of plagiarism. As a solution to this, one may use a plagiarism tool to avoid online plagiarism or any form of plagiarizing.
